Lodi High School (Fall) Color Guard /(Winter) Winter Guard
Meet the Coach by clicking HERE
The Color Guard is an extension of the Lodi High School Marching Honor Band Program in the Fall and covers the visual aspects of the marching field Band. Winter Guard does its own shows, indoors, during the Winter/Spring semester. You do not need previous musical or dance experience for these programs as students will learn the fundamentals of color guard equipment and movement while building their confidence, character and self-esteem. It is an active, healthy and fun activity to be a part of during the fall and winter months. Once the routines are learned, participants get to perform at outdoor field competitions and winter indoor competitions. Students will work with flags, ID units, rifles and sabers. Color Guard and Winter Guard is an extra-curricular activity and attendance at practices and competitions is mandatory if involved, and usually takes place Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm – 7pm, and occasional all day Saturday practices.
Students can be a part of the Fall Color Guard and still be in Symphonic Band, however if a student joins the Color Guard they will not be able to play their instrument with the Marching Honor Band in the Fall Field Competitions as they will be performing along side the band as the Color Guard element of the field show. It is possible to perform in both Winter Percussion AND Winter Guard during the Winter/Spring semester as they each have individual shows that perform at different times. Practices are in the evening, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 – 7 pm. There will also be Saturday practices and performances. Color Guard also participates in our Pre-Season practice, also known as Band Camp
which takes place the week prior to the fall semester start.
